media ARTS

During the last two weeks of our semester-long Media Arts course, students design a technology-rich art unit of study.  Students write a unit plan and get the plan approved before immersing themselves in at least one tech aspect of art creation.  Students are encouraged to explore visual art and art related fields, especially where these fields intertwine to create multi-media products and designs.

This unit of study gives students an opportunity to satisfy their curiosity about a tech related art tool or app, delve deeper into an area of study explored earlier in the semester, and add to their tech toolbox.

Units of Study have included the following topics and concepts:

• Explore Procreate and learn to create a realistic portrait using brushes and layers

• Create a stop motion animation film to refine your study of art, story, sound, and music design

• Create a fully formed composite self-portrait digital collage using GIMP, Pixlr Editor, or Photoshop (must use all original photos)

• Create a visual advertising campaign (at least 3 finished pieces) for a product

• Produce a short film about an important area of interest

• Create a series of modern day interpretation photographs based on famous paintings

• Design a digital portfolio for a fashion show

• Study a famous painting and then create an original piece of music in GarageBand that relates to the painting

• Create an iMovie based on a fairy tale using original art or photos
